Elliot Anderson takes 302 possession wins into England’s World Cup, but possession-adjusted rates pull Rodri and Curtis Jones level

Elliot Anderson goes to the World Cup as the biggest statistical outlier in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad. He won possession 302 times for Nottingham Forest this season, and nobody else in Europe’s top five leagues reached 200.
The number is the Opta fact attached to Anderson’s place in Tuchel’s 26. Bournemouth’s Alex Scott finished second on 195. A gap that large is a reason to watch how Anderson wins the ball before ranking him on the number. 1
