These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of tacticsjournal.com (the “Site”) and any services offered through it (together, the “Service”), operated by Tactics Journal (“we”, “us”, “our”). By accessing or using the Site, creating an account, or subscribing to our newsletter, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

The Service

Tactics Journal publishes football tactics writing, opinion posts, and a research digest. The Service also includes Community features where members can take part: Chat, Home, comments, and member profiles. Anyone can read some of the content. Other features need a free account or a paid subscription.

Tactics Board’s browser-local editor is free, including every pitch style, local import and export feature, and unlimited local projects. Signed-in Free accounts may select one project for cloud backup. Tactics Journal Pro is $14.99 billed monthly or $12.99 a month billed yearly at $155.88 and renews automatically until canceled. Opinion, Research, Community free features, and public pages remain free.

Paid product

Tactics Journal Pro adds hosted account services to the free Board editor: unlimited cloud backup and sync, cross-device continuity, collaboration and invitations, hosted sharing controls, 24-hour agent links, and MCP/WebMCP access. Pro is not a subscription to Tactics Journal Research. Opinion, Research, Community free features, public pages, and chart or source-data downloads remain free.

Board License is closed to new sales. Existing License holders keep the access and renewal terms attached to the subscription they bought. They may manage that subscription or upgrade to Pro through their account. The retired License does not limit the local editor features now available to everyone.

Polar is the payment processor and merchant of record for Pro and grandfathered Board License subscriptions. The amount and billing period shown at checkout are the terms of that purchase. A subscription renews automatically until canceled. Cancellation stops the next renewal and keeps access through the paid period. A completed refund or chargeback may end that access sooner. If a payment fails, Polar may retry it and send notices for seven days. If it still does not go through, paid hosted access lapses after day seven without deleting local Board work or account data. Accounts

You may create an account by signing in with your email address (via a sign-in link or one-time code) or by signing in with Google. You are responsible for:

• Providing an email address that you control
• Keeping your sign-in method (email inbox or Google account) secure
• Everything anyone does under your account

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you represent that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the Service.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, that we have good reason to think someone is using fraudulently, or that have sat idle for a long time.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to violate any law or the rights of others
• Try to break into the Service, other users’ accounts, or our systems
• Probe, scan, or test the Service for weaknesses, unless we agree to a coordinated disclosure in writing
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by sending automated traffic, scraping at a rate that degrades performance, or circumventing rate limits
• Use the Service to send spam, malware, or harassing communications
• Reproduce, republish, or redistribute Site content beyond what is permitted under “Content” below

Content

Our content

Tactics Journal or its licensors own all content on the Site, meaning the text, images, diagrams, video, and the design and code behind them. Copyright and other intellectual-property laws protect it. You may:

• Read and view the content for personal, non-commercial use
• Quote brief excerpts with clear attribution and a link back to the original post
• Share links to posts on social media and in private messages

You may not republish full articles or use Site content for commercial purposes without our prior written permission.

Newsletter content

New newsletter subscriptions receive every new post by email. Existing preferences stay unchanged. Newsletter emails are meant for the person who receives them. Forward one to a friend if you like. Do not pass them around publicly or post them in full.

User-generated content (Community)

Community features let you post text, images, and links (“User Content”) in Chat, Home, comments, and profile pages. By posting User Content you:

• Grant Tactics Journal a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute your User Content within and in connection with the Service (including email digests, social previews, and promotional excerpts). You retain ownership of your User Content.
• Confirm that you have the right to post it and that it breaks no law and no one else’s rights.
• Agree to abide by the Community Guidelines.

We may remove User Content, or limit who can see it, when we decide it breaks these Terms, the Community Guidelines, or the law. That decision is ours alone. We may also suspend or ban accounts that break the Community Guidelines badly or repeatedly.

You may delete your own posts and messages at any time. We take deleted content out of public view, though we may keep a copy in our moderation logs for a reasonable time. To request full deletion of your account and associated data, contact us (see below).

Uploaded assets

You may upload images and other assets to use with Service features such as Board. You retain ownership of your uploads. By uploading an asset, you:

• Confirm that you own it or have permission to upload and use it
• Confirm that it breaks no law and no one else’s copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights
• Accept responsibility for the asset and for your use of it
• Grant Tactics Journal a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, copy, process, and display the asset only as needed to provide and operate the Service

We do not review or approve assets before you upload them. We may remove an asset if we believe it breaks these Terms or the law, or if we receive a credible complaint that it infringes someone else’s rights. We may suspend or close accounts that repeatedly upload infringing assets.

Other user-submitted content

If you send us feedback, suggestions, or other communications outside of Community, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use that material to operate and improve the Service. You confirm that you have the right to share whatever you send us.

Third-party services

The Service relies on other companies, among them Cloudflare for hosting, Buttondown for the newsletter, Resend for transactional email, and Google for optional sign-in. When you use those services through the Site, their own terms and privacy policies apply too. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party services.

Disclaimers

We provide the Service “as is” and “as available”, with no warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Tactics analysis is editorial commentary, not professional advice. Nothing on the Site is coaching, scouting, betting, financial, or legal advice.

We do not promise that the Service will run without interruption, stay secure, or work without errors, and we do not promise to fix every defect.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Tactics Journal will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed one hundred US dollars (USD $100), or the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, whichever is greater.

Some places do not allow us to exclude or limit certain damages. There, our liability is limited as far as the law allows.

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. You can sign out, unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any email, or request deletion of your account by contacting us.

We may suspend, cancel, or remove your account and your access to any part of the Service at any time, for any reason, with or without notice, and we owe you nothing for doing so. That decision is ours alone. Reasons include a good-faith belief that you have broken these Terms, conduct we think harms other users or the Service, legal or regulatory demands, and a long stretch of inactivity. This list is not exhaustive.

Some sections outlive the end of your account, among them Content, Disclaimers, Limitation of liability, and Governing law.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where it makes sense, email account holders. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

The laws of the United States govern these Terms, and where state law applies, the law of New York, setting aside its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in New York, and you agree those courts have jurisdiction over you. Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable rights you have under the law of your country of residence.
