NEC’s U-19s jump the nearest central midfielder when a pass splits the front two and cover is set behind him. The midfielder presses the receiver before he can turn or pass through the gap. If cover is late, delay.
NEC Nijmegen’s U-19 coach Robert de Pauw closes his session with a full-pitch 11v11. The defending team press high in a 4-4-2 mid-block against a back three and a midfield three, with both strikers curving their runs to block central passes and force play to one side. 1
