Academy workload is consuming childhood, not just training minutes

Youth workload is not just minutes and GPS volume each week. In academy football, the load can include daily training, long travel, school squeezed out, parents reorganising family life, and in some cases a child’s allowance becoming household income.
The overloaded child is a development problem

From March to December, it says, youth competition calendars can mean weekend matches, daily training, long travel, fixed schedules and constant pressure to perform.
